A born and bred Dunedinite, Emily completed her legal studies at the University of Otago.

Prior to joining the McMillan&Co team in late 2023, Emily worked at a smaller Dunedin firm for 3 and a half years, with a primary focus on property law and succession planning.

During her time in practice, Emily has worked on a large number of subdivisions across the South Island, for both large-scale and small-scale developers. Emily has also assisted many clients in the sale and purchase of property, and particularly enjoys helping to guide first home buyers through the settlement process.

Other areas in which Emily has experience include: advising on, and settlement of, business sales; commercial leases; the formation and administration of Trusts (including charitable trusts); drafting and providing advice regarding wills and powers of attorney; and estate administration.

Outside of work, Emily is most likely to be found in her craft room, playing board games with her family, or supporting her partner at his wheelchair rugby tournaments. Emily is also heavily involved in greyhound rehoming; as well as having three rescue hounds of her own, she often fosters greyhounds for Southern Cross Greyhound Adoptions, a charity which she is a trustee of.
