"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need." - Mick Jagger
Mediation is increasingly being recognised as “the way of the future” for the resolution of family, employment and commercial disputes that would otherwise be dealt with in courts, with all of the cost, stress and delay that is involved in court proceedings.
As well as being cheaper, less stressful and faster than court proceedings, a further well-recognised benefit of mediation is that it enables parties, with the help of the mediator, to resolve matters on their own terms. As a result, they are generally more satisfied with their agreed outcome than with an outcome that has been imposed on them by a court, and they’re much more likely to be able to maintain goodwill in the future. This is especially important in family mediations where the parties need to have an ongoing relationship, or in business matters where there is a valuable commercial relationship that needs to be preserved.
Sally has completed NZ Law Society mediation training, and is regularly appointed by the family court, as well as by private clients seeking an efficient, cost-effective way of resolving their family or commercial disputes. We also represent clients in disputes mediated elsewhere.
Our office premises boast a well-appointed mediation facility which enables us to offer mediation to existing clients, as well as parties who just want to use us as mediators. We welcome self-referrals as well as referrals from other lawyers and professionals.
